As simple as it sounds, knowing how to crouch in Tears of the Kingdom is actually more beneficial than some of the other game mechanics. Crouching is not only great for exploration as it allows Link to reach the deepest nooks throughout Hyrule, however, it is also superb during encounters where stealth is required.
By crouching, your purple noise sensors on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen will be affected. The faster you move, the greater the noise you make. Move too fast and your enemies will appear with a question mark above their heads.
If you have been scratching your head over how to reach those nooks and crannies in Tears of the Kingdom, here’s a short guide on how to crouch in TotK and why you should! 👇
How To Crouch Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The crouch mechanic in Tears of the Kingdom uses the exact same crouch button as Breath of the Wild on your Joy-Con controller. By crouching, you will not only be able to sneak past ghouls and dodge enemy fire in ToTK, but you will also be able to reach new places throughout Hyrule where loot and other goodies linger.
To crouch in Tears of the Kingdom, follow these 3 simple steps:
- Step 1: Press down the left stick on your Joy-Con controller.
- Step 2: Move the left stick forwards, backwards, left or right to move whilst crouching.
- Step 3: To un-crouch, click the left stick once more.
Learning how to crouch in TotK might seem simple but I often see players forget this basic mechanic. By scouting out an enemy camp first through crouching, you can forego a whole lot of pain for Link with a well-planned attack.
Once crouched, you can tactfully work your way through enemy hordes undetected by sneaking up behind them and performing a sneak strike attack.
Oh, and don’t forget to revisit those areas that you missed now you know how to crouch. There’s loot, goodies and much to explore in these areas.
