With entry-level gaming chairs, high grade materials across the board shouldn’t be expected. There’s absolutely no way you can pit Alfordson Gaming Chairs against industry titans such as Secret Lab or Razer which are valued at 4x the price. However, there’s a minimum requirement for a gaming chair to be worthwhile and the very basics are something that you should expect regardless of the price.

As always, my Alfordson gaming chair review has been written after testing the Alfordson Vogler out of my office in Queensland. I have tested the setup, the build quality and the overall comfortability throughout varying temperatures.

Alfordson Chair Review: Design
All in all, Alfordson gaming chairs are very well designed. Aesthetically, they look just like your stereotypical gaming chairs, however, the S-curve design is a very attractive feature. A lot of cheaper gaming chairs do not spend enough money on the shape of the chair which leads to an uncomfortable experience during longer gaming sessions. However, Alfordson gaming chairs take care of this critical feature very well.
The Alfordson Vogler comes with a ton of colours to choose from to suit your gaming room. Players can choose between Gold, Blue, Grey, Green, Pink, Orange, Red, White, All Black or Blue & White. Personally, I have always been a fan of matt black gaming chairs as they can quickly double up as professional office chairs. However, if you are someone who enjoys a bit more colour, there’s plenty of choice here.
Designed with heavy-duty all metal frames and featuring a detachable and height adjustable neck cushion, Alfordson gaming chairs are suitable for gamers between 5ft 5 and 6ft 3 inches. With a weight capacity of up to 180kg, larger gamers also won’t feel like the chair is going to buckle underneath them. But be warned, extreme duress is not advised with any gaming chair that you purchase.
Predominantly made from high grade PU leather, the Alfordson Vogler has a slightly more premium feel than most chairs within this price range. Of course, fabric is more breathable than PU Leather so if you sweat a lot or do not have access to air conditioning… well.
From the padded footrest to the abundance of high resilience foam that has been packed into the design, the overall appearance of the Alfordson Vogler is sleek and sturdy. The chrome base also means less cleaning up to do comparatively to plastic chair bases.

When I looked at the features included with Alfordson gaming chairs, there was way more than what I could have imagined for the price. The Vogler, in particular, comes with lumbar support, a massager, high resilience foam, 90° – 150° recliner, a retractable footrest, a linked armrest and a steel metal frame for support.
You would forgive me for being a little suspicious. How can a gaming chair under $200 have all of these features and not be made poorly?
Well, I was wrong. In fact, the Alfordson Vogler surprised me completely. All features are fairly well manufactured with the standout being the nice back massage whilst you play. It’s not too powerful and sometimes you will forget that it’s massaging your back. However, when you are just relaxing in your chair you can definitely feel the effects.

In addition to these specifications, the Vogler Alfordson gaming chair also utilises an SGS gas lift which eliminates any risks of explosion and the wheels smoothly glide across most surfaces. The triple layer seat with PU Leather and resilience foam is also a nice touch.
Again, how can this be an entry-level gaming chair?
Comfortability & Customisation
Overall, Alfordson gaming chairs are fairly comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend Alfordson gaming chairs for very humid climates as they do lack some breathability. However, for any homes that have good airflow, the summer months won’t be too much of an issue.
Due to the S-Curve design, Alfordson gaming chairs give you a tight little hug which is very reassuring when gaming. The triple layer seat with both PU Leather and resilience foam makes for a fairly comfortable experience and you’ll be pleased to know that Alfordson have not skimped out on the foam here which is awesome.
The footrest was a bit over the top for me as I very rarely used this when testing. I typically play FPS games that have me on the edge of my seat cursing at the screen. However, I can imagine for casual gaming genres, such as JPRG games, the footrest will prove to be a value addition. It just wasn’t for me.
The lumbar support cushion is oversized and moderately comfortable. I have never been a fan of cushion-based lumbar support and would much prefer gaming chairs that have built in lumbar support systems such as the Razer Tarok. But again, as far as cushion-based lumbar support systems go, the Alfordson Vogler was moderately comfortable.
As always, gamers can expect a recliner system with Alfordson gaming chairs and the Vogler will recline between 90-150° which is pretty standard. I wouldn’t recommend going all the way back to 150° unless you want to end up on your back, but a little recline here and there is always welcome.
Build Quality & Assembly
You will soon know how well a gaming chair has been built when it comes to assembling it’s components and by all accounts, the build quality of Alfordson gaming chairs is passable. While some components do not always smoothly fit together they are fairly well made and use good materials.
As I said in my Alfordson review verdict, I’m terrible and building things so this also could be a statement of my lack of masculinity rather than manufacturing capabilities.
A lot of cheap gaming chairs are manufactured with cheap leather. However, Alfordson gaming chairs have not compromised on key areas of the chair using premium PU leather, high resilience foam and a premium gas lift system. The full steel frame is extremely well designed and will ensure that the chair remains sturdy underneath you during gameplay. This cannot always be said for rival gaming chairs.
The assembly time took around 30 minutes with my partner and I would always recommend assembling gaming chairs with two people present as the final build will weigh close to 20kg. The instructions were clear and everything you need to assemble the chair will be within the box for you with labels.
It’s not exactly a thrilling experience, however, it’s a gaming chair – what did you expect?

The 5-year warranty is also quite the standout and again makes me question how on earth they are managing to deliver such great value for money. Warranties of this length are very rare for super cheap gaming chairs and I was stunned when I saw this included.
Who should buy Alfordson Gaming Chairs?
As an entry-level gaming chair option, Alfordson gaming are a solid choice for new gamers or for when you’re looking for the perfect gaming gift that is not video game.
You should buy Alfordson gaming chairs if:
- You don’t want to spend more than $200.
- You are upgrading from a standard office chair.
- You don’t want to wait for shipping.
- You want more features than just the chair.
- You like to buy from Australian companies.
You shouldn’t buy Alfordson gaming chairs if:
- You prefer build quality over functionality.
- You already have a more premium gaming chair.
- You only buy household brands.
- You live within a very humid household.
- You play for long periods of time
Are Alfordson Gaming Chairs Good?
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from Alfordson gaming chairs given that they are an unknown brand and designed specifically for budget gaming.
However, from my experience testing the Alfordson Vogler, I was blown away with the overall quality. Assuming that all models utilise similar base components with slight variations on the features, you will be pleasantly surprised with any Alfordson chair that you purchase. The S-curve design is comfortable, the massager is surprisingly effective for a USB powered component and the design is no worse than most other gaming chairs.
To this end, I have graded my Alfordson gaming chair review a highly respectable 91%. With a footrest, back massager and an oversized lumbar support cushion, Alfordson gaming chairs are packed with more features than most other alternatives at this price point and I have no doubt you’ll be happy too.
Sure, I do have some complaints about breathability. However, these are fairly minor considering the price and would not deter me away from buying an Alfordson gaming chair in the future. Alfordson are purposefully positioning their range of gaming chairs towards entry-level markets, however, should they ever come up with a mid-range option with better materials, I have no doubt the overall quality of the chair would be superb.
