According to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, Rockstar Games will unveil GTA 6 this week for the studio’s 25th-anniversary celebration. And this will be followed by a trailer in December.
Schreier reported the following on his twitter, “The company plans to then publish a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI next month to celebrate Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, said the people, who asked to not be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. A spokesperson for Rockstar didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment sent after business hours.”
GTA5 is often ranked as one of the best games of all time, so there’s no doubt that could be a stunning way to celebrate the studio’s anniversary. It’s not unlikely either, as Rockstar has seemingly been just as eager to announce the game for a long time already.
Rockstar even kept their mouth shut when a video was leaked showing off considerable development of the game in 2022. Through gritted teeth they said “We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.” and that was that.
So we’ve known that the game has been in the works for a while now, but without any official announcement, it’s not concrete. This supposed official announcement will be the first step towards the game’s release, and for the most anticipated game of maybe the decade, that’s a big step. But there have been smaller teases before this, like in September, Rockstar shared a post for a GTA Online event. The post’s image showed off two characters standing in front of the Vinewood sign. And what got fans excited was the way that the photo was angled– only the “VI” part of the sign was visible.
But– though Schrier has had a good track record in the past– we’ll only know the truth of the matter until the game is unveiled (or not) later this week.
