After the runaway success of the collector’s edition, Larian Studios have put together a new special collection which, for the first time, includes physical editions of Baldur’s Gate 3. So yes, you can finally play Baldur’s Gate 3 on disc, and finally add it to your games library. But for an epic, continent spanning adventure like Baldur’s Gate 3, they’ve had to make some concessions. Specifically, the PS5 versions sports 2 discs, and the Xbox versions come with a juicy 3 discs for your playing pleasure. The PC version on the other hand comes with a DVD and a custom installer, along with a Steam key. But whichever platform you decide to purchase it for, the set will be $150AUD from the Larian Store.
Larian’s director of publishing has said that “This experiment is what we feel the future of physical media looks like, at least for us at Larian. We spent the last few months learning how to do it from scratch, and put everything we learned from the Collector’s Edition into what we hope is unbeatable value for what we’re considering our standard physical version going forward. If it works out, we’ll keep doing it this way.
We understand the value of physical media, and while there are clearly increasingly significant challenges when it comes to the archiving of games, we truly believe it’s worth experimenting, even if it means a f-ton of discs.”
The Baldur’s Gate 3 – Deluxe Edition will be only be sold on the Baldur’s Gate 3 site via the Larian store. But thankfully, this one won’t be like the Collector’s Edition. Instead of being a one and done deal, the Deluxe Edition will be restocked for as long as there is demand. So if you’re on the fence about buying this bougie box set, you can wait around to see what else Larian has on the horizon. The first batch of the Deluxe Edition is scheduled to ship Q1 of 2024.
Additionally, Larian has said that Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally make its debut on Xbox with it’s digital release date going to be revealed at The Game Awards on December 7.
Available to preorder now the Deluxe Edition includes a Baldur’s Gate 3 game disc for your chosen platform, packaged within an oversized exclusive game box designed to sit alongside your classic Baldur’s Gate collection.

This does mean that some of the more exciting offerings from the Collector’s edition won’t be making a return — like the artbook, the mindflayer statue– but it’s also not $500 either (it’s $150AUD). That said, with the explosive success of this CRPG wonder, there may be many more merch and collectible on the horizon (especially if Baldur’s Gate 3 wins the Game of the Year award at this year’s Game Awards).
